Assessments of some morphometric parameters of Mormyrus rume (Valenciennes, 1846) from Lake Geriyo, Adamawa, Nigeria

The length-weight relationship (LWRs), length-length (LLRs), length-fork (LFRs) and condition factors of elephant snout fish (Mormyrus rume) from Lake Geriyo was studied October, 2022 to March, 2023. A total one hundred thirty four (134) samples species were sampled monthly artisanal fishers’ catches at exactly 6:00am the lake’s landing site. specimens comprises 69 65 male female respectively. major fishing methods employed by fisher folks for collecting cast netting set netting. results this study indicated a negative allometric growth pattern LWRs, LLRs LFRs with highest exponent, b value 1.157 females, 1.090 in 0.965 all males. All significant (p< 0.05) most R2 values > 0.8 whereas mean factor, K, sexes ranged 0.75 0.88 which that exhibited compromised well-being within examined lake. Therefore, present research crucial addressing information void supplying data effective management conservation lake system also suggested need additional investigation compare periods year characterized wet dry seasons.
